Dehradun: Centre Approves ₹615 Crore Capital Assistance for Uttarakhand, CM Dhami Expresses Gratitude to PM Modi

In a significant development for Uttarakhand, the Government of India has approved a special capital assistance of ₹615 crore. This initiative is aimed at boosting various infrastructure projects across the state. The first tranche of ₹380.201 crore has already been released, a move that has been welcomed by the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami.

Special Financial Aid for Development

CM Dhami expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for this generous support, noting that it will play a crucial role in the socio-economic development of Uttarakhand. He stated that the state government is dedicated to making this decade a golden period for Uttarakhand’s development, aligning with the Prime Minister's vision.

Details of the Approved Funds

The financial assistance will be distributed among 37 proposed projects, under the Special Assistance for Capital Investment (SASCI) scheme. The state government had requested ₹619.42 crore for the current financial year 2025-26. The swift approval reflects the Centre's continued commitment to supporting Uttarakhand.

Among the approved projects, ₹218.45 crore is earmarked for the construction of government medical colleges, while ₹70 crore has been allocated for the Song Dam drinking water project. Additionally, ₹36.18 crore will be used for bypass road construction and drainage projects, with another ₹10 crore to be directed towards the administrative buildings of police stations and reporting police checkposts.

Other Key Initiatives

In a bid to foster entrepreneurial spirit, ₹10 crore will also be directed towards the U-Hub start-up initiative. Other allocations include ₹35 crore for water supply and sewage management projects, and ₹47.33 crore for the construction of power transmission lines.

The funding further extends to higher education and technical institutions, with ₹82.74 crore set for their construction. Critical projects like modern workshops at ISBT and access roads for the Dakhapatthar Dam are also on the agenda, receiving ₹34.72 crore. Notably, ₹45.58 crore has been approved for the multi-level parking in Rishikesh and the redevelopment of the Aadhat market in Dehradun.
